PURPOSE
As the eCommerce Manager at William Wood you will own and elevate the performance of our e-commerce platform, driving sustainable revenue growth through strategic trading, data-led optimisation, and seamless customer experience. This role ensures our website reflects our premium brand positioning while continuously improving conversion, average order value, and overall commercial performance through testing, insight, and cross-functional collaboration.
YOUR TASKS
- Website Ownership & CRO
- Own the day-to-day management and optimisation of our Shopify Plus store.
- Define and deliver the overall e-commerce strategy to drive revenue growth and elevate the customer experience.
- Plan and execute site refreshes, seasonal campaigns, and new product launches.
- Lead conversion rate optimisation through A/B testing, UX enhancements, and data-driven experimentation.
- Analyse user behaviour via analytics platforms (e.g. GA4, Hotjar, Heatmapping tools, CRO software), identifying friction points and implementing improvements.
- Ensure a premium yet frictionless purchasing journey across mobile and desktop.
- Work closely with developers to continuously improve site performance, functionality, templates, layouts, and UX.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs (Traffic, CVR, AOV, CPA, Revenue) and take proactive action to optimise performance.
- Drive effective merchandising strategies, including cross-sell, upsell, and bundling initiatives to increase AOV.
- Collaborate with Marketing to ensure on-site creative aligns seamlessly with paid campaigns and key launch moments.
- Support product and category launches with high-performing landing pages and optimised PDPs.
- Alongside Commercial Director, own and manage the end-to-end trading and merchandising calendar, coordinating cross-functional execution of campaigns and promotions.
- Plan, brief, and deliver website campaigns in collaboration with Marketing and Creative teams, ensuring timely and cohesive execution.
- Maintain consistent visual storytelling and brand alignment across all digital touchpoints.
- Lead the testing roadmap across pricing, messaging, layout, and promotional mechanics.
- Build and maintain performance dashboards to track trends across markets and customer segments.
- Partner with Marketing to align on CAC vs AOV, ensuring site changes support sustainable, profitable growth.
- Own e-commerce analytics, identifying growth opportunities through customer profiling and behavioural insights.
- Analyse and report regularly on trading performance against agreed KPIs.
- Translate data into actionable insights to inform future strategy and decision-making.
- Liaise with Operations and Logistics to ensure accurate stock, fulfilment, and delivery messaging on site.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Buying, and Customer Service to ensure consistency across all customer touchpoints.
- Manage and optimise third party tools (e.g. reviews platforms, upsell solutions, post-purchase flows).
Skills and Requirements:
- Extensive experience leading and scaling a high-performing e-commerce channel, ideally within a premium or design led brand.
- Deep commercial understanding of online trading levers, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, margin improvement, and profitability.
- Strong strategic capability and able to define and deliver a clear e-commerce roadmap aligned to broader business objectives.
- Ability to set up, manage and report on commercial performance KPI’s.
- Advanced knowledge of CRO principles, customer journey optimisation, and performance-led experimentation.
- Expert level understanding of analytics and performance reporting (e.g. GA4 and BI tools), with the ability to translate data into strategic decisions and board-level insight.
- Proven experience managing significant trading calendars, seasonal campaigns, and major product launches.
- Strong leadership and cross functional influence and confident partnering with Marketing, Creative, Product, Operations, and Development to drive execution at pace.
- Ability to balance brand storytelling and premium positioning with commercial performance and conversion optimisation.
- Experience managing and optimising a broader e-commerce tech stack (personalisation tools, reviews platforms, CRO tools, post-purchase journeys).
- Commercially assertive, decisive, and comfortable owning performance targets and accountability for results.
- Highly organised, proactive, and capable of operating at both strategic and hands-on levels where required.
