We are looking for a Catering Regional Chef to join the team in Klondyke. Our restaurant boasts an impressive menu serving the highest quality, mouth‑watering dishes using the best local produce along with sweet treats and home baking from our on‑site bakery. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Chef who will relish the prospect of working across multiple units, supporting the teams as well as supporting the central food development team. We offer a menu of locally inspired restaurant meals, a coffee bar serving snacks and drinks and a retail food hall all offering food and drink from locally sourced producers. Klondyke Garden Centre is a destination Garden Centre where our customers have the best shopping and eating experience together with exceptional product quality and customer service across all areas of the Centre.
The Role
As the Regional Chef, you will lead the team in all areas of food production. A true foodie at heart, you will bring your personality to the kitchen, inspiring and motivating your team’s passion to produce freshly cooked fabulous food. As the Catering Regional Chef, you will be responsible for managing food‑service operation based in our Scottish centres predominantly. Reporting into the Catering Regional Manager, you will support the kitchen operations across the group, assist with training and recruiting, work alongside existing teams to improve operations and standards, and provide cover during periods of holidays and absence. You will also be encouraged to support the central F&B team in creating and delivering new menus. Knowledge and understanding of baking will be desirable. You will work closely with your Food Hall colleagues on the production and supply of freshly prepared counter products as well as fresh food production for neighbouring Centres. The role will require significant travel across the region, so a full driving licence is required. A company car will be provided.
What you will be doing as a Catering Regional Chef?
- Develop and retain strong kitchen teams across the region.
- Work collaboratively with the Regional Manager, Development Team, Restaurant Managers and Head Chefs to deliver the F&B vision.
- Identify risk and plan your time effectively to support the business needs.
- Be flexible and react at a moment’s notice to support the operations.
- Take the initiative and lead by example, adopting a ‘hands‑on’ approach.
- Regularly visit the sites across the region, coaching and supporting the business as required.
- Support the head chefs and Restaurant Managers to achieve all key performance indicators (e.g., sales, standards, margin, audits, wastage & compliance).
- Consistently deliver excellent kitchen and food standards.
- Support in recruiting, training and developing the chefs; keeping them engaged and motivated while delivering great service every day.
- Ensure the team has good working relationships with all management and team members.
- Monitor and ensure the team is preparing and presenting food in line with company specification.
- Take personal accountability for food safety compliance, including ensuring allergen information is displayed correctly and teams are trained and briefed accordingly.
