We’re seeking a dynamic Fashion Reporter to join our editorial team at Retail Week to be at the forefront of retail’s biggest stories, breaking and exclusive news, market trends and analysis, and build relationships with the industry’s most influential leaders.
Retail Week provides the most comprehensive business intelligence on the UK retail industry. With its deep knowledge and strength of relationships throughout the retail ecosystem, it translates data and trends into important implications and actionable insights to future-proof the health of retail, for businesses, people and the planet. What you’ll be doing:
News coverage
- Breaking exclusive news stories and elevating on-diary developments with fresh angles
- Researching and writing compelling and engaging daily news pieces across all retail categories, for both print and digital
- Building and maintaining relationships with senior industry contacts within the retail industry
- Meeting tight deadlines while maintaining editorial excellence
Strategic content creation
- Pitching and producing in-depth weekly analysis pieces and monthly sector features
- Conducting high-profile interviews with retail leaders and innovators
- Contributing to our influential weekly newsletters
- Attending and covering major retail events and conferences, both in the UK and internationally
- Moderating panels and discussions at Retail Week events
- Representing the brand across media appearances when required
Requirements
What you’ll need:
- Strong, imaginative journalist with a proven record of producing engaging, informative and analytical content, and demonstrated experience in covering fast-paced developments; B2B or trade media experience is highly desirable
- Ability to translate complex business concepts, facts and figures into clear and compelling stories
- Qualification in journalism or degree-level education in English, or a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Brilliant news sense with a keen interest in, and industry knowledge of, the retail and commerce industries are desirable
- Excellent knowledge of digital journalism and social media channels, and the ability to leverage platforms to amplify content reach, engage audiences, and foster meaningful interactions
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with self-drive and ability to set own agenda and work at pace to tight deadlines and independently, whilst also having a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and presenting skills with a proactive approach to engaging and networking with both internal and external senior stakeholders, and a proven track record of contact building
- Outstanding attention to detail, with solid research and investigation skills
- A curious and adaptable mindset, and eager to learn and grow within a friendly news team
- Willingness to travel to cover stories, and attend meetings and events in the UK and internationally
