Once you are familiar with our payroll procedures, the role will broaden to include benefits administration, such as company vehicles, healthcare and pensions, along with general HR support for the Group HR Manager. This is a varied role offering hybrid working and flexibility around how the agreed weekly hours are arranged.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and process payroll for approximately 350 employees

- Check payroll inputs, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, absence, overtime and other adjustments
- Respond to payroll queries professionally and promptly
- Liaise with managers and employees to obtain accurate information within payroll deadlines
- Complete payroll checks and reconciliations
- Support statutory payroll processes and reporting
- Maintain accurate information across Sage Payroll and Cezanne HR
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits, including company vehicles, healthcare and pensions
- Support the Group HR Manager with employee administration and wider HR activities
- Handle personal and confidential information with care and discretion
- Help identify opportunities to improve payroll and HR processes
About You:
You will be methodical, dependable and comfortable working with detailed and confidential information. You will have good communication skills and the confidence to work independently while forming part of a supportive HR team. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a payroll position
- A good understanding of UK payroll processes and relevant statutory requirements
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience working to fixed deadlines
- Good Excel and general systems skills
- The ability to manage queries sensitively and professionally
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload
- Experience using Sage Payroll, which would be a significant advantage
- Experience using an HR information system; knowledge of Cezanne would be helpful but is not essential
- An interest in developing broader benefits and HR administration experience
Working arrangements:
The position is based at our Northampton office (Wollaston BMW - Bedford Road, NN1), with the opportunity to work partly from home. We expect the successful candidate to work approximately 25-30 hours per week and are open to discussing a flexible working pattern that meets both individual and business needs.
