The Role

Property Recoveries Associate – Manchester / Bristol

An award-winning national law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Property Recoveries Associate to join its well-regarded Property Risks & Coverage team. This role involves both technical litigation work and team leadership responsibilities.

The role involves handling a caseload of commercial and household property recovery claims. These claims typically involve perils such as fire, flood, and product liability, with values up to £100,000.

In addition to running their own caseload, the role involves managing and supervising a small team of up to three lawyers. This includes supporting professional development, overseeing case progress, contributing to recruitment, and delivering high-quality service to a portfolio of insurer clients.

The position also includes opportunities for client-facing work, account management, and business development. You’ll be expected to help prepare and deliver training sessions and legal seminars for clients, contribute to key account strategy, and maintain strong client relationships through technical excellence and a commercial mindset.

The Candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in property litigation (claimant or defendant)
  • Proven experience in handling household and commercial property recovery claims
  • Strong technical knowledge of property-related litigation and recovery processes
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is essential
  • Comfortable managing a team and contributing to recruitment and performance management
  • Client-focused, with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality legal advice and support business development initiatives
  • Enthusiastic about mentoring, training, and developing junior colleagues
