A highly regarded national law firm is seeking to appoint an experienced Costs Lawyer / Draftsperson to join its established Legal Cost team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing and respected department that supports a wide range of commercial and personal injury litigation matters.

The team advises on the full spectrum of costs issues, from low-value disputes and fixed recoverable costs through to complex, high-value claims. Alongside technical drafting, the role offers regular exposure to advocacy, including attendance at CCMCs and application hearings, as well as providing strategic advice throughout the lifecycle of a claim covering budgeting, reserving, recovery and dispute resolution.

In this role, you will take ownership of a varied caseload, independently managing matters from inception to conclusion. You will be responsible for drafting a wide range of costs documentation and representing clients at hearings where required. This position is well suited to a Costs Lawyer looking to take the next step in their career, offering a high level of autonomy and exposure to diverse and challenging work.

The Candidate
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in legal costs litigation
  • Experience acting for both Claimants and Defendants
  • Confident in advocacy, including CCMCs and applications
  • Strong drafting skills across budgets, bills of costs, points of dispute and replies
  • Proven ability to negotiate settlements effectively
  • Capable of managing and prioritising a varied caseload independently
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
