Medical Malpractice Solicitor - Leeds - Up to Β£80,000
We are working with a well-established specialist law firm to recruit a Medical Malpractice Solicitor to join its growing healthcare litigation team in Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with 1-8 years' PQE to work on a varied caseload of defendant medical malpractice claims, acting for healthcare organisations, insurers and other professional clients.
You'll have the opportunity to manage your own matters while working closely with experienced lawyers on complex claims, with strong scope for career development, client exposure and progression.
The Role:
- Manage a caseload of defendant medical malpractice claims from notification through to resolution or trial
- Assist senior lawyers with complex and high-value healthcare claims
- Liaise with insurers, brokers, healthcare providers, solicitors and witnesses
- Obtain evidence and instruct appropriate medical experts and counsel
- Attend conferences, hearings and other key stages of litigation where required
- Draft correspondence, reports, advice and case strategy documents
- Manage case deadlines, diaries and action points effectively
- Support and supervise junior members of the team where appropriate
- Maintain accurate client and matter records
- Keep up to date with developments in clinical negligence and healthcare litigation
- Contribute to business development, client training and relationship-building initiatives
- Work towards agreed financial, quality and client service objectives
About You:
- Qualified Solicitor with 1-8 years' PQE
- Experience in defendant medical malpractice
- Strong understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant pre-action protocols
- Experience gained through insurer or NHS-related instructions would be advantageous
- Good understanding of the relationship between insurers, brokers and insured clients
- Strong analytical, tactical and drafting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation
- Able to manage a varied caseload and work effectively to deadlines
- Commercial, solution-focused and client-focused approach
- Confident working independently while also knowing when to seek support
- Willingness to contribute to business development and client training
