An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Solicitor to join a well-established law firm. This role focuses on defending insurer clients in complex and high-value product liability and insurance coverage disputes, often involving multi-party litigation and claims exceeding £1m.
You will manage your own caseload of defendant product liability matters while assisting Partners on large, technically challenging cases. The work will involve advising on coverage, liability and quantum, supporting strategic decision-making, and defending claims across a range of sectors.
You’ll work directly with insurer clients and claims handlers, handling matters from initial investigation through to resolution, including:
- Drafting bespoke coverage advice
- Preparing court proceedings
- Managing disclosure
- Engaging in ADR and settlement negotiations
- Supporting litigation strategy
You will review evidence, conduct legal research, prepare instructions to Counsel and experts, attend client meetings and conferences, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

The Candidate
- Solicitor or Legal Executive with previous defendant product liability insurance litigation experience
- Strong understanding of coverage issues, negligence, breach of contract and Consumer Protection Act claims
- Ability to work to deadlines and chargeable time targets
- Strong litigation and drafting skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Professional and confident communication with insurer clients and senior claims handlers
