A leading national legal services provider is looking for an Intellectual Property Senior Associate to join its growing Commercial Services team in Manchester. Working alongside an experienced Head of Commercial, you will advise a diverse client base across technology, life sciences, media and other innovative sectors on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters.

This role offers a genuine opportunity to help establish and shape a growing IP practice within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. The Role:

  • Advise clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters
  • Support businesses on trade marks, copyright, licensing, assignments, brand protection and IP strategy
  • Work closely with technology, life sciences and media clients on commercially focused legal solutions
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Commercial, Corporate, Data Protection and Litigation teams
  • Assist in developing and growing the firm's Intellectual Property offering as part of a wider Commercial Services strategy
  • Mentor and support junior lawyers while contributing to the continued growth of the team
  • Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships through internal referral networks

The Candidate:

  • Qualified Solicitor with strong experience in contentious and non-contentious Intellectual Property law
  • Currently operating at Associate or Senior Associate level
  • Experience advising clients on trade marks, copyright, licensing, IP commercialisation and brand protection
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Collaborative approach with an interest in mentoring junior lawyers
  • Enthusiastic about helping to build and develop a growing Intellectual Property practice
  • Commercially minded with an interest in business development, although an existing client following is not required
