A respected national insurance litigation firm is seeking an EL/PL Solicitor to join its growing Birmingham team. The department is recognised for defending a broad range of liability claims on behalf of insurers, businesses and public sector organisations. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload while also supporting senior lawyers on more complex matters. You'll gain exposure to a varied workload including employers' liability, public liability and workplace stress-related claims.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to develop their expertise within a busy and supportive litigation environment, with strong long-term progression prospects.

The Role:

  • Managing a caseload of litigated fast track and multi-track EL/PL claims
  • Handling matters involving liability, causation and quantum disputes
  • Reviewing and managing large volumes of disclosure documentation
  • Assisting senior lawyers with case strategy and complex file progression
  • Drafting witness statements, pleadings and client reports
  • Conducting legal research and preparing cases for hearings
  • Liaising with barristers, experts, clients and third parties
  • Attending court hearings, conferences and client meetings
  • Working to billing, performance and service targets
  • Supporting networking and business development initiatives

About You:

  • Qualified Solicitor with circa 1-3 years' PQE
  • Previous experience in EL/PL, personal injury, insurance defence or civil litigation
  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation processes
  • Confident handling your own caseload with appropriate supervision
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise deadlines
  • Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing document heavy and factually complex matters
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
  • Team player with a commercial and client-focused mindset
