Payroll Specialist, maternity leave cover, full time based in Hull. Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager to deliver an outsourced payroll for the whole Group, working with a third-party payroll provider and our different businesses to deliver efficient and accurate payroll processing across weekly, 4-weekly and monthly pay frequencies. This role will be most suited to someone who has been in a payroll position for a minimum of 2 years, ideally with iTrent experience and who is looking to develop their knowledge and gain broader experience.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with our businesses to ensure payroll data is submitted on time and in line with agreed processes.
- Responsible for the seamless transfer of data from the businesses, to People First and iTrent, review the People First scheduler output into iTrent and ensure the correct data has been transferred.
- Work with the People teams to foster an engaged relationship with the outsourced model, continuously reviewing processes to achieve further efficiencies.
- Carry out manual calculations as and when necessary.
- Investigate, explain and resolve payroll queries.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in the office (based in Hessle, Hull, East Yorkshire) and 2 days at home.
Key Skills And Experience
- Recent payroll experience to have included starters, leavers, changes of terms, tax, NI, statutory leave and payments, attachment of earnings, NMW compliance, with the ability to perform manual calculations of these elements when required.
- Be highly skilled at using Excel including using v-look ups, pivot tables and macros for various financial reporting requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and have a high level of numeracy skills.
- Along with HMRC legislation and payroll knowledge, you will also have a working knowledge of pension legislation and procedures.
- You will be comfortable speaking to a wide range of people about payroll issues both over the phone, in person and over email, providing excellent customer service.
