Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth-generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people.
We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand “Jackson’s of Yorkshire”.

What’s involved?
As our People and Payroll administrator you will be responsible for providing confidential administration support to the People Team and being responsible for administrating payroll across our Hull, JDC, AJK and Lottie Shaw’s sites. You will have great attention to detail to be able to ensure accurate processing of timesheets and have brilliant communication skills to be able to support managers and to explain pay queries to our colleagues. You will also work really close with our group payroll team to support with a smooth payroll process.
This is a fixed term opportunity to cover for maternity leave.
Key Areas of Responsibility

Monitor the Time Management System (TMS – Mitrefinch) to ensure colleagues’ clockings are accurate to support the effective processing of the weekly and 4-weekly payrolls.

Act as first point of contact for pay related queries conducting regular drop in sessions across all sites.

Submit all payroll reports in line with their respective deadlines.

Provide advice and support to line managers with any pay queries or use of the TMS system.

Calculate and process any pay variations that occur on a weekly basis including overtime

Process any paperwork relating to sickness including medical fit notes and return to work documents.

Monitor and record absence on a weekly basis to compile and send to our payroll team to ensure correct sick payment is made.

Set up new starters on our HR system (Midland HR -People First / iTrent) and make any people related changes throughout their employment, ensuring relevant paperwork is collated.

Maintain paper and electronic people records ensuring that they are GDPR compliant, conducting audits to ensure documentation is relevant and in-line with accreditation requirements.

Responsible for all admin in relation to People matters, supporting the wider People Team with administration, data gathering and report generation.

Manage the Consumables and Stationery budget for Hull sites. Including checking stock and ordering on a weekly basis
You will:
We are looking for someone who is experienced in administering payroll within a wider HR team.You should have excellent administration skills and attention to detail as well as great people skills, with the ability to explain payroll processes to all colleagues. You should have experience of working with and using People Systems as an administrator and if you have any experience of a wider HR processes that would be great.
You should enjoy a role that is varied; aside of payroll processing, no two days are the same here at Jacksons. You will be a key member of the People Team so working confidentially is a vital part of the role alongside being a real team player. You’ll also get involved in organising our employee engagement initiatives alongside our Communication and Engagement Manager.so having experience of colleague engagement will also be beneficial.
Job commitments
Hull – Derrignham Street with occasional travel to Newport (Brough) and Lottie Shaw’s (Brighouse, Leeds)
Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week
