We’re evoke plc, a global business that embraces change and progress. With a rich history behind us, we’ve learned a lot and have led the industry in many ways. Our culture is all about creating great experiences, for both our customers and our people.
This role is part of the 2nd line Group Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function at evoke and we are looking for an experienced Risk & Controls Manager to help shape our ongoing journey towards a best-in-class risk management culture through a framework that manages the Company’s overall risk exposure, generates competitive advantages and creates business opportunities.
Here you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust risk and control framework to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, safeguard assets, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role involves review of the organisation’s risk management processes, collaborating with various departments to establish effective controls, and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of risk management practices and internal control frameworks, alongside direct experience of 2nd line risk business partnering. As you will be working with senior leaders and Executive members, this role requires the ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level. If you have a Risk Management qualification (Degree, IRM, ORM) and working knowledge and experience from within the gambling industry this is advantageous.
What you will be doing:
- Playing a critical role in the development of the enterprise risk management framework, ensuring the approach meets our legal and regulatory requirements and is aligned to industry standards while driving value for the business.
- Business partnering with the Executives, Business Leaders and Risk Champions to ensure that the ERM framework is implemented consistently across the business, thereby fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation.
- Supporting and holding business risk owners to account, ensuring that the risk lifecycle is implemented consistently (identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring), and that evoke risk registers are a living, breathing tool to enable robust decision making.
- Advising 1st line stakeholders on key operational risks, appropriateness of controls, seeking opportunities for process/control improvement and best practices.
- Leading initiatives to promote a robust risk culture by developing and delivering targeted education, training, and awareness programs across all levels of the organisation.
- Monitoring and analysing trends in operational risk management, ensuring that significant risks and issues are escalated and reported to key stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Evaluating the potential impacts of new initiatives, operational changes, and projects on the organisation’s strategic objectives and overall risk profile, challenging assumptions where necessary.
- Maintaining strong and up to date knowledge of emerging risks through research and analysis, ensuring that potential risks are communicated effectively and addressed by the business.
- Maintaining key risk management policies and procedures, working closely with other functional areas to ensure cohesive and effective sharing of knowledge and best use of resources.
Who we are looking for:
We are committed to responsible gambling, and we are looking for people who can support our ethos. To apply to this post, you will have:
- Significant experience in designing and implementing a risk management and/or internal controls framework with proven experience in a similar risk or internal control role, preferably 2nd line.
- Excellent understanding of risk and control frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000, COSO), and risk management principles.
- Demonstrable excellent project management skills and the ability to multi-task on quality work deliverables.
- Interpersonal and senior stakeholder management skills to develop core relationships across the organisation, including ability to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders at a senior level.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills with sound judgement to be able to take initiative and apply reasoning and logic, make actionable recommendations, and to explain technical control concepts in simple, succinct language for senior stakeholders.
