Job Description:

The Student Support and Wellbeing Manager at William College will play a crucial role in ensuring that students receive the necessary support to succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. The Student Support and Wellbeing Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Advice and Wellbeing teams to ensure that the student support services, policies and practices put students at the heart of everything they do and promoting a positive college environment. The focus of this position will be to oversee the student support and wellbeing service team, including the appropriate escalation for complex student casework, to act as a lead staff member for student critical incident responses and triage. The Student Support and Wellbeing Manager is a key figure in promoting a holistic approach to student life, helping to foster resilience, growth, and success during their time at William College.

Reports to: Director/ Head of Student Experience

Responsibilities:

· To proactively lead the student support and wellbeing service team in delivering excellent, innovative and student-centred support services, keeping students at the heart.

· Provide effective leadership & management for student support and wellbeing team.

· Act as a source of expertise for the college on matters related to student support and wellbeing services.

· Travel to different campuses for partnership approval events, induction, and training purposes (travel expenses will be paid).

· Lead existing partner operational meetings, representing our SSW team.

· Oversee all student inquiry procedures and ensure the SSW staff provides high-quality responses.

· Personally manage exceptional inquiries as needed.

· Provide comprehensive support and guidance to students, addressing their academic, personal, and emotional needs.

· Demonstrate understanding and adherence to all procedures and legislation regarding confidentiality and information disclosure, ensuring the SSW staff is knowledgeable and compliant.

· Carry out tasks assigned by directors/senior academics when required.

· Approve holiday and flexitime requests to ensure office coverage and meet demands during peak times.

· Team training, induction, payroll, RTW, interventions.

· Conduct performance and development reviews for the SSW staff.

· Be flexible with time as some of our campuses may offer weekend/evening courses.

Conditions/Requirements:

· At least a Bachelor’s degree.

· Proven working knowledge in Higher Education and understanding of the needs of students covering a wide range of disabilities, mental health, SpLD and counselling, with knowledge of current disability legislation, funding and policy implementation.

· A minimum 2 years’ experience working as student service manager or in similar role in Higher Education is essential.

· Knowledge of counselling techniques, mental health issues, and crisis intervention strategies.
