About the role:

  • Project management for Capital Expenditure projects from concept through to handover
  • Proactive ownership of project outcomes and the driving force of project progress
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise based on risk
  • Develop detailed project delivery plans including budgets, schedule and risk analysis/mitigation
  • Actively manage risk throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring robust mitigation plans
  • Control scope, preventing cost & schedule overrun and documenting/approving any changes
  • Demonstrate influence and leadership to build and lead multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Maintain rigour in project documentation
  • Use existing reporting tools and frameworks to provide project status & progress updates
  • Capture learnings during projects and suggest improvements to standards or ways of working
  • Support development of improved ways of working including new tools and templates
  • Willingness and drive to lead a culture of safety throughout project delivery, from design, implementation and across the lifecycle of industrial assets
  • Partner with operational teams and supplier to champion safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with relevant construction safety regulations and site safety standards (e.g. UK-CDM, Ireland-Construction regs)
  • Ensure installations are compliant with relevant industrial safety regulations (e.g. machine safety, explosive atmospheres, COMAH)
  • Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis and ensure completion of corrective & preventative actions.
  • Apply Engineering technical expertise in relevant discipline to develop solutions suitable for industrial applications
  • General technical awareness and understanding of wide range of relevant technical disciplines (e.g. civil, mechanical/process, electrical, process control systems)
  • Translate non-technical project scopes into technical requirements that can be used in engineering designs (specification)
  • Manage external design partners to ensure robust designs that meet project requirements. If required able to independently complete basic designs
  • Ensure installations meet required quality standards and apply validation processes
  • Collaborate with technical SMEs to ensure compliance with internal and external standards & legislation (e.g. construction safety, PUWER, cyber security, process safety)
  • Understand & interpret engineering drawings
  • Lead design reviews and ensure technical integrity of solutions
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, sustainability improvements and process improvements through engineering solutions
  • Actively manage relationships with site teams from Operator level (L6/L7), Leadership (L5) and Senior Leadership (L4)
  • Support Lead PE and Technical Manager with comms & relationships to Director level (L3)
  • Manage conflicting priorities between stakeholder groups (e.g. site teams, contractors, procurement)
  • Ensure relevant stakeholders are kept informed on project schedule/cost/risk and provide relevant context to support operations and reporting.
  • Manage vendor relationships and deliverables including safety, quality, cost, scope & schedule
  • Administer contracts in line with company policies and legal requirements
  • Partner with procurement to manage commercial risk across project portfolio, especially on high value or high-risk projects
  • Critically assess cost proposals from suppliers & contractors and drive value for Diageo through negotiation and innovation
  • Support internal finance teams with development of NPV analysis and ROI calculations
  • Develop detailed project budgets with appropriate levels of contingency through estimating, tendering & concept design
  • Maintain accurate project cash flow forecast & actively control project budgets across project lifecycle
  • Drive value and performance from suppliers

Skills:

  • 3-5 years in similar industrial environment
  • Previous experience of managing engineering projects
  • Experience in use of Microsoft 365 suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience in use of Project Management software (MS Project preferred)
  • Basic use of SAP DEP
  • Familiarity of AutoCAD tools
  • Electrical Infrastructure/Switchgear, Motor/Inverter Control.
  • Operational Technology (OT) including industrial networking
  • PLC, SCADA, and HMI platforms
  • Experience deploying site infrastructure/network upgrades (brownfield & greenfield)
  • Practical awareness of ISA 95/88
  • Experience delivering IT/OT integration projects including OT centric cybersecurity risk mgt
  • Process and packaging equipment integration

Education & Certifications:

  • Relevant Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process, Chemical, CE&I) or HND/HNC with Experience (CEng desirable)
  • Project Management (APM PMQ/equivalent or willing to work towards)
  • Safety (NEBOSH Certificate
