We are recruiting for a hardworking Environmental Operative who can undertake waste management duties, as well as liaising with Production and Supply Chain to ensure efficiency and cleanliness across the site.
The successful candidate will be accountable for maintaining housekeeping standards and be able to work well under pressure, analyse and problem solve while embracing change and innovation.
The operative will be responsible for working with other Environmental colleagues to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of a high-quality environmental service to all customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all waste is stored, handled and transported securely, in line with company procedures and health and safety guidelines
- Undertake forklift truck duties as required, ensuring daily safety checks are conducted thoroughly and company guidelines observed
- Undertake waste management duties, ensuring all recycling is processed efficiently, operating machinery in a safe manner
- Assist with cleaning, housekeeping and 5’s.
- Work with team colleagues to ensure the workplace environment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness that always complies with the company and legislative standards
- Provide cover for absent staff and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues
Essential
- You must hold a valid licence and be able to competently operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck. You must be willing to undertake training to operate a powered pallet truck (BT) and an electrical towing buggy if you do not already hold these licences.
- You will also have a good understanding of, and a commitment to, safe working practices from your experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ideally, you will also have previous experience of Environmental duties including the principles of waste management.
