We’re looking for a Material Planner who will ensure all material requirements are managed effectively to support our manufacturing needs.
A little more about the role:
- Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager in this integral role, you will develop and execute the material ordering and delivery strategy for a specific supply chain.
- You will be accountable for the delivery of materials against agreed supplier schedules and create professional working relationships with a range of stakeholders in the supply chain.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all material schedules via various order types are issued to the supply chain within the supplier agreed cut off lead times.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered against the agreed schedules.
- Coordinate flow of material within the manufacturing facility, controlling the release of material accordingly.
- Review and communicate any known material shortages to production planning at the earliest convenience to allow for contingency arrangements to be made where possible.
- Look at ways to offer alternative options to known material shortages.
- Report the weekly and monthly supplier performance information to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor material inventory for the business and generate long term material forecasts for suppliers on varying lead time delivery needs.
- Participate in root cause analysis where supply may be impacted, assisting with helping to improve performance to the agreed standard.
- Arrange for non-conforming parts to be returned to the suppliers in a timely manner, managing stock adjustments as required.
- Issue any NCR/PIR requests when needed, using the PLM system.
About You:
You will already have experience from a previous material planning role, ideally from a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environment. You’ll also have a high level of IT literacy and have experience of utilising ERP/MRP systems. Given the nature of the role, you will need to have effective communication skills and be able to engage with a range of stakeholders to drive process improvement.
