The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced staff to learn the interpersonal and management skills needed to work with young people and adults whilst also being given the opportunity to share your own expertise and think creatively about how to help the school move forward with PE.

As a PE and School Sports Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will:
- Support and assist the PE Lead Teacher in the organisation, resourcing, development and delivery of PE lessons, sports fixtures and matches;
- Deliver safe and engaging lunchtime, breakfast and after school activities;
- Work under the guidance of staff to include all pupils in PE and school sport and to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
- Help raise the profile of PE and Sport within Courthouse Green Primary School.
- Assisting the teachers and higher level learning support assistants
- Assist with learning activities in lessons, including PE and other subjects, including preparing or modifying work for an individual or group of pupils as directed.
- Have an understanding of and a commitment to working within the school’s policies and the National Curriculum for PE.
- Work alongside teachers and coaches to deliver engaging and motivating PE lessons, supervising and supporting the activities of individuals or groups of children/young people to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development.
- Monitor individual pupil progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate. Working with more able pupils to help them attain the highest level they can.
- Assist in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programme(s) for individuals or groups of children as well as preparing and delivering programmes to support Special Needs
- Assist with the planning of learning activities in the classroom and assist in equipment preparation for lessons in designated areas - preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed.
- Provide support for local and national learning strategies and further raise the profile and enjoyment of sport within the school community
- Assist with the administration of baseline/tests and other assessments.
- Participate in personal and professional development activities to meet the changing demands of the job and encourage and support other staff in their development and training.
- Organise and run extra-curricular sports clubs
- Bring their own specialism to our school
- Help organise lunchtime games sessions or clubs
- Prepare and maintain equipment and teaching resources for lessons and activities when required and help to keep the PE equipment stores tidy.
- Ensure that pupils are able to safely use equipment and materials provided.
- Support the PE Leader in organising the participation of students in school activities, school clubs and school tournaments/competitions (both internal and external)
- Become an active part of our team, prepared to go the extra mile for the benefit of our school community
- Follow school policies and behave professionally
- Maintain confidentiality inside and outside the workplace
What They're Looking For
- A genuine passion for sport, PE and physical activity.
- GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
- A GCSE in PE or a relevant sports qualification
- Confident in building and maintaining relationships with young children
- Works well with other people
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks set
- Able to work using own initiative
- Able to communicate effectively in spoken or written form
- Well organised
- Able to use ICT - word processing, emails, internet
- Aware of Safeguarding when working with young people
- Basic knowledge of First Aid if possible
- Awareness of Health and Safety issues

Working Hours
37.5 hours a week - Term time only plus 5 training days.
Pay
Apprenticeship pay scale, £8 per hour for the first 12 months, followed by National Minimum Wage for your age.
Training to be provided
A nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification. Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard, 15 months plus up to 12 weeks for end-point assessment.
Future Prospects
For the right candidate, we are committed to supporting their continued professional development. Upon successful completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to progress onto aLevel 4 apprenticeship programme, subject to performance and suitability.
