About the Company: We’re supporting our client, a global, leading medical devices manufacturer based in Wirral, who are looking for a Head of Sales & Marketing to join their growing team. The successful Head of Sales & Marketing requires a leader who can balance commercial rigour with customer empathy, driving both performance and purpose.
About the Role: As a Head of Sales & Marketing, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the company’s commercial growth strategy across the NHS and private healthcare markets. The Head of Sales & Marketing provides strategic and operational leadership of all customer-facing functions: sales, marketing, and commercial development, ensuring the company achieves sustainable revenue growth, strong market positioning, and alignment with objectives. The role combines hands-on sales leadership with strategic influence across design, operations and product innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute commercial strategy, fully aligned with business and group growth objectives.
- Shape and deliver annual and multi-year business plans with clear revenue, margin, and market-share targets.
- Partner with the General Manager and Finance Director to build accurate budgets, forecasts, and investment cases.
- Act as a key commercial interface with leadership, ensuring alignment and best-practice adoption.
- Maintain competitor and market intelligence to anticipate trends and define winning market positions.
- Provide inspirational leadership to create a high-performing, accountable, and customer-centric sales culture.
- Lead the national sales team — setting targets, driving performance, and supporting customer engagement through joint field visits.
- Ensure robust pipeline discipline, forecasting accuracy, and effective use of CRM tools (Salesforce or equivalent).
- Oversee pricing, quoting, and tender strategy across frameworks and procurement routes.
- Implement strategic measurement systems and regularly review performance against KPIs and objectives.
- Oversee marketing strategy, campaigns, and communications to strengthen brand visibility and thought leadership.
- Ensure marketing activity aligns to growth priorities, including product launches, events, and digital engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Design and Professional Services to position company as a trusted digital hardware and patient-engagement partner.
- Champion customer insight and data-driven marketing to shape product and service innovation.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with NHS and private healthcare leaders, integrated care boards, and key partners.
- Represent company externally at senior levels, acting as an ambassador for the company’s reputation and values.
- Ensure the customer voice is central to decision-making, influencing design, operations, and service delivery.
- Lead engagement in NHS digital transformation initiatives, workforce efficiency projects, and capital investment programmes.
- Drive close collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Operations, Design, and Customer Success to ensure unified delivery.
- Support the General Manager in group-wide representation, reporting, and strategic communication.
- Foster an entrepreneurial, innovative, and accountable culture across the commercial organisation.
- Identify and develop future talent, building capability and succession within the team.
Qualifications:
- Proven senior commercial leadership within healthcare, MedTech, or technology-based industries.
- Deep understanding of NHS procurement frameworks, capital equipment sales, and service-based business models.
- Track record of delivering sustained revenue and margin growth.
- Strong leadership in motivating, coaching, and transforming sales and marketing teams.
- Skilled in CRM and sales analytics to drive forecasting, pipeline management, and insight.
- Strong financial literacy with experience in pricing, negotiation, and contract management.
- Strategic Acumen: Able to connect vision to actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
- Commercial Insight: Understands market dynamics, competitors, and emerging healthcare trends.
- Relationship Building: Proven ability to influence and gain trust at all levels — from C-suite to frontline.
