We’re supporting our client, a global, leading manufacturer based in Stourbridge, who are looking for a Design and Sales Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Design and Sales Engineer will have experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of pipework, pressure systems, or fluid handling applications.
Job Summary:
As a Design and Sales Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering bespoke engineering design solutions for customer projects, supporting projects from initial enquiry through to manufacture and delivery. The role combines technical design, project management, and customer interaction to ensure high-quality, commercially viable solutions are delivered on time.
Responsibilities for Design and Sales Engineer:
- Develop bespoke design solutions for flexible hose assemblies, bellows, and expansion joints based on customer specifications
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Perform calculations relating to pressure, stress, temperature, and movement to ensure design integrity
- Interpret customer requirements and translate them into manufacturable solutions
- Liaise with production, quality, and commercial teams to ensure efficient project execution
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g. PED, ISO, industry-specific requirements)
- Support the preparation of technical quotations and project costings where required
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
- Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders
- Identify and resolve design or manufacturing issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings, and documentation in line with QMS requirements
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing processes
About You:
Essential:
- Experience in pipework layout and drawings, or H&V, or similar mechanical systems
- Mechanically biased and curious, with excellent problem-solving ability
- Proven experience managing multiple projects end-to-end (from quotation through to delivery)
- Strong customer relationship skills with commercial awareness
- Positive attitude towards learning and development
- Ability and desire to work in a small company environment – willing to be hands-on and support across functions as required
- Comfortable using 2D CAD software
Desirable:
- Familiarity with engineering standards and quality management systems (QMS)
- Engineering qualification (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
