We’re supporting our client, a global, leading plastics manufacturer based in Shrewsbury, who are looking for a Business Development Manager to join their growing team. The successful Business Development Manager will have previous experience working in business development or sales within the injection moulding, plastics manufacturing or related industries.

Job Summary: As a Business Development Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving the business forward by securing new clients, identifying growth opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with key industry players. You will be responsible for uncovering new markets and creating strategies to support the expansion of prototyping and injection moulding manufacturing services, ensuring that the void can be filled left by the departure of a major contract.

Responsibilities for Business Development Manager:

  • Business Growth: Actively seek out and target new business opportunities in both low and high-volume injection moulding manufacturing.
  • Client Acquisition: Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients in various sectors, including automotive, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and more.
  • Market Research: Stay ahead of industry trends, identify gaps in the market, and assess potential customer needs to drive growth.
  • Lead Generation: Generate new leads through networking, trade shows, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the team to create compelling proposals, tailored to client needs, to secure new projects.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies, with a focus on converting leads into long-term clients.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Maintain regular communication with clients, ensuring their needs are met and providing excellent service throughout the lifecycle of each project.
  • Reporting: Report regularly to senior management, providing updates on sales performance, new opportunities, and market trends.

About You:

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in business development or sales within the injection moulding, plastics manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Track Record: A demonstrated history of successfully acquiring new clients and generating significant revenue growth, especially within the manufacturing or engineering sectors.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the injection moulding process, as well as market trends and customer demands in the plastics sector.
  • Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build lasting relationships with clients and work closely with technical teams.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and take initiative to generate new business, while managing a sales pipeline effectively.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-evolving environment, adjusting strategies as required to meet business objectives.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Business, Engineering, or a related field would be preferred.
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and sales tracking tools is desirable.
  • Previous experience working in the injection moulding or precision manufacturing industries is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Moldflow simulation software or similar technologies is a plus.
