We’re supporting our client, a global, leading injection moulding company based in Hereford, who are looking for a Mould Setter to join their growing team. The successful Mould Setter will have previous experience as an Injection Moulding Setter, and be able to work on rotating shifts, including undertaking night work.
Job Summary: As a Mould Setter, you’ll be working as part of the Technical Team, supporting the efficient production of customer components ensuring highest levels of quality and efficiency are reached and including problem solving – making components within the costed timeframes, and highlighting discrepancies as required.
Responsibilities for Mould Setter:
* To oversee the premises when all other Senior Management and Directors are off site which includes opening and locking up the site, as per the locking up procedure.
* Working to the production priorities as set by the Production Supervisors to deliver the plan; prioritising workload as necessary and reporting back to the Production Supervisors and Technical Managers the output from each shift.
* Oversee the production operators, supporting coverage of break times and utilisation in lieu of the Production Supervisors.
* Oversee the Material Logistics Controllers on shift to ensure hoppers are cleaned and material is prepared correctly.
* To prepare raw materials, mould mount applicable tools and set up processing equipment as efficiently as possible in order to deliver maximum overall equipment efficiency.
* Undertaking tool changes, and second operation set ups and clean down as required throughout the shift, in line with costed timeframes.
* Competent to set up and problem solve processing discrepancies inline with the Technical grading for the role.
* Working with the Quality Department to carry out corrective actions timely and efficiently to maintain conformity and optimisation.
* To set and keep running production from molding machines, robotics and ancillaries throughout shift, ensuring the remain within quality monitoring parameters.
* Submit successful first offs first time, ensuring excellent housekeeping and by using visual checks to the golden sample, handheld measuring tools and shot weight before submission.
* Completion of all tool changes and start up procedures in line with tool change procedural documentation, setting machine parameters to the setting sheet, with sign off including the promotion of housekeeping standards. Submitting a first off as per the first off procedure, and related documentation, ensuring a ‘right first time’ attitude; including restarts.
* Carrying out planned and reactive low level maintenance work in a safe and timely manner.
* Assist and support in the carrying out of production improvement projects.
* Key holder, responsible for startup/shutdown at the beginning and end of the week as required.
* Responsible for managing spills in line with the ESP-003 Emergency Response Policy.
* Fire warden and emergency team member, working to the OSP-007 Fire Policy.
* Competent and trained First Aider, working to the OSP-008 First Aid Policy.
About You:
* Able to work on rotating shifts, including undertaking night work.
* Experienced Injection Moulding Setter
* Demonstrable experience of problem solving to eradicate processing issues such as delamination, splash, flash, rippling, distortion, dimensional intolerance etc.
* Demonstrable experience of setting and problem-solving automation including sprue pickers, sprue cutters, robot hands etc.
* Comprehensive experience of undertaking tool changes and problem solving
* Computer literate, with experience of using Outlook, Word, Excel and MRP systems and databases
* Previous experience of working to structured processes and procedures
* Experience of working with technical grade polymers Acetal, ABS, Polypropylene, Nylons, Grivory to produce technical mouldings.
* Demonstrable experience of routine maintenance to injection moulding machines to maintain production e.g. changing heater bands and replacing micro-switches.
