A well-established organisation is seeking an experienced

Head of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership during an exciting period of growth and transformation.

Based in

Edinburgh with hybrid working , this permanent opportunity offers a salary of up to circa £65,000 .

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, you will lead an established finance function and play a key role in supporting the organisation's strategic direction.

This is a broad leadership position that combines operational excellence with commercial insight, giving you the opportunity to influence decision-making across the business while driving continuous improvement throughout the finance function.

You’ll lead a capable team, oversee financial reporting and planning, strengthen governance and controls, and work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure finance remains a proactive business partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small, high-performing finance team.
  • Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Oversee statutory reporting, external audit and financial compliance.
  • Provide commercial analysis, financial modelling and strategic insight to senior leadership.
  • Drive improvements across finance systems, reporting and processes.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, governance and risk management.
  • Partner with budget holders to improve financial performance and decision-making.
  • Manage cashflow forecasting and long‑term financial planning.
  • Deputise for the CFO when required.
  • Candidate Profile
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience leading a finance function within a medium‑sized organisation.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge alongside commercial awareness.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Track record of improving finance processes, controls and reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys developing teams and influencing positive change.
