This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to bring strong technical capability while working closely with technology, operations and senior finance stakeholders, contributing to both day-to-day financial delivery and wider improvement initiatives.

Location: Edinburgh. Hybrid working.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will take ownership of a varied remit spanning financial control, forecasting, reconciliations, finance systems and project activity. You will act as a key link between Finance and wider operational and technology teams, helping to strengthen processes, test system changes and ensure reliable management information. The role offers regular exposure to the Financial Controller and Finance Director, making it well suited to someone who wants a position with both hands-on accounting responsibility and meaningful involvement in systems-led improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a key finance contact for technology, product and operational teams, helping to understand processes and lead practical improvements.
  • Support finance-related system change and improvement projects, assessing the impact on ways of working and ensuring appropriate controls are maintained.
  • Own and improve high-volume reconciliation processes, investigating differences and resolving issues with internal teams and external partners.
  • Prepare, update and reforecast operational finance plans, working cross-functionally to understand changing assumptions and financial impacts.
  • Build effective relationships with payment and banking partners and support the Finance team in keeping pace with relevant technology developments.
  • Forecast and report departmental expenditure, providing clear information to the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.
  • Review monthly payroll and support appropriate financial controls around payroll processes.
  • Maintain appropriate VAT treatment across company processes, including ownership of VAT return preparation and filing.
  • Lead or support finance projects as required, alongside ad hoc analysis and process improvement activity.
  • Provide year-end audit support and contribute to the delivery of accurate, well-controlled financial information.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant, with a strong grounding in financial accounting, control and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with financial systems and finance processes; Oracle ERP exposure would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including financial analysis, balance sheet review and reconciliations.
  • A strong understanding of end-to-end and back-end processes, with the confidence to investigate issues and identify root causes.
  • Comfortable working across Finance and non-finance teams, with clear communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A practical, improvement-focused mindset and the ability to balance recurring responsibilities with project activity.

Package & Benefits

£55,000 - £65,000. Bonus and excellent benefits.

Reasons to Join

  • Broader scope than a traditional Financial Accountant role, combining accounting, systems, controls and process improvement.
  • High level of cross-functional exposure, including collaboration with technology, operational and external payment partners.
  • Regular interaction with senior finance leadership and the opportunity to contribute to wider Finance team priorities.
  • A role where strong technical accounting skills can be paired with curiosity, problem-solving and systems thinking.
