W&A is supporting a boutique-scale financial services business in Edinburgh to recruit an ambitious and proactive Assistant Accountant.

This full-time, office-based role offers broad exposure across corporate and alternative investment fund accounting, direct client contact and the opportunity to develop alongside experienced accountants.

The Opportunity

Working closely with an Associate Director, you'll support a varied portfolio of corporate and fund clients, gaining hands-on experience across management accounts, financial statements, VAT, reconciliations and fund activity.
\n

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare quarterly management accounts and financial statements for a range of corporate and partnership entities.
- Complete VAT returns, bookkeeping and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Process invoices, expenses, investment payments and distributions.
- Prepare fund drawdown and distribution notices.
- Liaise directly with clients, auditors and tax advisers, responding to queries and supporting timely reporting.
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to good governance and best practice.

What You'll Bring

- Part-qualified accountant, ideally with financial services experience.
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements for Limited Companies and/or Partnerships.
- Confidence dealing with clients and third parties at different levels of seniority.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and enthusiasm to learn.
- Experience using Xero and Microsoft 365.
- VAT experience is beneficial but not essential; FCA regulatory experience is not required.
