Audit Senior – External Audit Glasgow | Hybrid – 40% Remote | Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits Are you a CA or ACCA qualified Audit Senior looking for a role that offers genuine progression, a varied client portfolio and a better balance between work and life? Wilkins Talent Solutions is recruiting an Audit Senior to join the External Audit team of an ambitious and growing accountancy and advisory firm in Glasgow . You'll work across a broad range of clients, including corporates, SMEs and owner-managed businesses, charities, education organisations and housing associations , giving you far more variety than working within a single-sector portfolio. The role As Audit Senior, you'll take ownership of audit assignments from initial planning right through to completion , acting as a key point of contact for clients and working closely with Audit Managers, Directors and Partners. You'll be responsible for: Planning and delivering external audit assignments from start to finish Acting as the senior fieldwork team member on audit engagements Undertaking complex and technical audit work Supervising and reviewing the work of junior auditors Coaching and mentoring trainees and supporting their exam progression Preparing statutory accounts from trial balance Preparing audit adjustments and appropriate financial statement disclosures Drafting management letters and making recommendations around systems, controls and governance Building strong relationships with clients Attending client meetings and, where required, Audit Committee and Board meetings Ensuring audits meet relevant standards, regulatory requirements and firm methodologies Supporting Managers and Partners with proposals and business development Helping onboard and develop graduate trainees There may be some limited overnight travel as part of the role. What are we looking for? We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who are: CA or ACCA qualified , having completed their professional examinations and required practical experience Experienced within external audit/accountancy practice Typically bringing around 4–6 years' audit experience Ideally with at least one year's post-qualified experience Experienced working on medium to large audit engagements Confident supervising and reviewing junior team members Technically strong across UK auditing and accounting standards, including ISAs and relevant FRSs Comfortable managing multiple assignments and competing deadlines Confident dealing directly with clients Experience within a small to medium-sized accountancy practice is particularly relevant. Experience auditing charities, further education or the wider public sector would also be advantageous, but isn't essential. What's on offer?
