Type: Full-time

Are you ready to take on an exciting challenge in technical sales and business support? We’re looking for a Technical Sales Manager - Welding, Gases & Cylinders to drive internal and external sales growth and maximize profitability in our marine products portfolio. In this role, you will actively drive our welding products and services in both internal sales (supporting WSS account managers) and external sales (directly with customers). You’ll connect customer needs with WSS welding solutions and support vessel managers with daily welding repair demands and retrofit projects.

You will identify and target sales opportunities on behalf of account managers, influence and execute strategic plans, coordinate contract and product portfolio preparation, and implement selling tactics to fuel growth. All the while, you’ll leverage your technical expertise to showcase how our products create real value for customers. You’ll be at the forefront of the technical sales process — handling advanced technical questions, supporting and following up on inspection work, shaping the sales portfolio for each customer by highlighting key selling points for the sales team, and participating in closing deals.

If you thrive on building relationships, solving challenges in the maritime industry, and driving business success in the maritime sector, we’d love to hear from you!

What you will be doing:

  • Provide daily sales and customer service support, as well as technical assistance to port engineers, for all solution-related technical cases.
  • Conduct comprehensive welding inspections and vetting, and prepare assessment reports to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Use your technical expertise to prepare product portfolios for agreements, consolidating products and recommendations for welding-related retrofit works.
  • Participate in tenders and bids, analyzing customers’ procurement history and aligning solutions with specific end-user needs.
  • Act as a technical leader for welding products and services, setting high standards in knowledge and expertise and leading market and end-user consumption analysis.
  • Leverage your knowledge of welding technology, marine legislation, and customer requirements to identify potential opportunities, target the right customers, and support a robust sales pipeline.
  • As the Technical Sales Manager, lead impactful sales activities focused on the most promising opportunities and customers.
  • Drive and grow profitable sales of welding products by building strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Be ready to lead customer seminars and crew/officer training sessions, and confidently represent WSS at industry events.
  • Identify priority target clients, set up and conduct face-to-face meetings, and lead a best-practice, technically based approach to selling.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM data to reflect opportunities and track sales progression.
  • Work closely with the product management team to provide performance insights and recommend product improvements.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop impactful sales materials and effectively present WSS products at industry events.
  • Embody a “can-do” attitude, inspiring the sales team to pursue growth and close deals confidently.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent marine qualification – preferred.
  • Engineering/technical experience relevant to mechanical works, handheld power tools, welding processes, and handling of marine gases.
  • International experience in technical sales, with a track record of achieving sales targets indirectly by influencing and driving a sales organization through technical expertise and strong sales skills.
  • Experience in negotiating with customers and resolving tensions or conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to work independently, planning and organizing your own work to achieve goals within tight timeframes.
  • Ambitious and success-driven, with a commercial mindset and solid technical expertise.
  • Digitally savvy, with proficiency in Excel (pivot tables), Microsoft Office, Copilot, and experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and analytics tools like Power BI.
  • Proven communication skills and an excellent command of English (verbal and written).

What we offer:

Join a work culture of strong leadership, career development, and positive work-life balance in a role that is both challenging and stimulating. Beyond this, we offer benefits tailored to each global Wilhelmsen hub, including:
