We believe in bold ideas, diverse perspectives, and the drive to transform knowledge into impact. Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.
Working closely with project and programme managers, product, and technology teams, you will drive portfolio transparency, quality assurance, and delivery best practice. This includes coordinating reporting and tracking dependencies, leading health-checks and assurance reviews, and coaching colleagues on how to deliver better. You will also get hands-on with AI-powered tools to generate portfolio insights — this isn’t a tick-box PMO role. This is a genuine opportunity to shape a maturing PMO function – contributing to team roadmap delivery, capability building, and embedding standards that raise the bar across our delivery practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Portfolio reporting & insight – Coordinate and consolidate status reporting across the portfolio, producing analysis and AI-assisted insights to provide visibility of the health of the portfolio and support prioritisation, dependency tracking, resource allocation, and investment decisions.
- Governance & delivery frameworks – Define and implement proportionate programme and project governance, QA frameworks, and best practice standards for risk, issue management, and change control.
- Delivery advisory & assurance – Act as a trusted advisor to project and programme managers, providing guidance, practical recommendations, and assurance through health-checks, stage gate reviews, and escalation support.
- Capability building – Champion delivery best practice across the organisation, supporting the development of training materials and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen delivery capability at scale.
- PMO development & stakeholder engagement – Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PMO function, lead on service improvement initiatives, represent the team with credibility across DCE and Technology & Operations, and build strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Required Skills & Experience
- Qualifications & frameworks – Project management and PMO certification (e.g. PRINCE2, P3O, or APM PMO Practitioner), with a solid understanding of programme and project delivery frameworks including Agile and hybrid approaches, and hands-on PMO experience.
- Data, reporting & tooling – Proficiency in data manipulation, reporting, and visualisation tools, with experience building and maintaining dashboards, and familiarity with PPM software and collaboration tools.
- Analytical & organisational capability – An analytical mindset with a track record of producing insightful analysis to drive decisions, combined with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload and competing priorities to deadline.
- Stakeholder & cross-functional collaboration – Experience working with stakeholders at all levels and across multiple teams, with the confidence to build effective relationships and influence without authority.
- Proactive & self-motivated – A track record of taking ownership, demonstrating initiative, and keeping stakeholders informed, with a willingness to get involved across all aspects of PMO work.
