The Assistant Peer Review Performance Manager drives the day‑to‑day peer review performance for a segment of the Research Publishing journal portfolio. The role assesses editor and editorial office performance across all journals in the manager’s remit, monitors editor performance, and manages expected behaviours and KPIs. It optimises performance to ensure adherence to best practices and promotes a positive author experience throughout the author lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide journal‑level oversight of the manuscript peer review process from submission to final editorial decision and export to Content Operations for a portfolio of journals.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of peer review management processes.
  • Identify and raise integrity concerns and act on outcomes from investigations as needed.
  • Adopt new services/tools when offered or enhanced workflows are rolled out.
  • Execute and align the journals in the remit toward continuous improvement, workflow optimisation, and adoption of peer review best practices and standards.
  • Focus on value‑added strategies and tactics associated with the delivery of a rendered decision, including speed to decision, quality of author experience, and integrity of manuscript and workflow processes.
  • Seek guidance on remedial action plans as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or relevant industry experience.
  • Relevant or transferable experience in publishing.
  • Data literate, able to quickly adapt to new systems and platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – able to communicate authoritatively to direct and influence colleagues in other roles.

Salary Range 24,500 GBP to 33,567 GBP
