About the Role

The Journal Marketing Manager will be responsible for creating compelling go-to-market strategies for a portfolio of journals in Social Sciences and Humanities. This person will develop customer-focused, data-driven plans that drive our relationship with researchers and authors, to deliver KPIs such as article submissions, revenue, readership growth, and society satisfaction. This person will understand what makes a great marketing campaign, from proposition, messaging, and choice of channels to evaluation and iteration, and will demonstrate this throughout their portfolio. The role comprises relationship management and managing the marketing services that we provide to our learned society partners. As an experienced marketing professional with the ability to influence and manage expectations, the Journal Marketing Manager will manage external relationships confidently and effectively. We are looking for a results-oriented person who thrives in a collaborative work environment. Working in a complex, matrix environment, this person will partner with Product, Editorial and the larger marketing organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement brand awareness and lead generation strategies to establish, maintain, or improve the position of the journal portfolio.
  • Develop effective product positioning, messaging, and market entry strategies and deliver effective campaign and program briefings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the marketing organization to deliver marketing programs that deliver on journal, subject and society goals.
  • Communicate effectively with the editorial product teams about marketing results and best practices.
  • Maintain and improve internal and external customer relationships.
  • Review market intelligence, market research and competitor behavior to better understand customer needs and identify areas where Wiley can deliver article growth and market share gains.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, business or a related field.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience, with a proven track record of achieving results and delivering on priorities.
  • Strong data analysis and insight interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into effective marketing strategies.
  • Strong customer focus, and proven experience managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization and influence without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional marketing or product marketing qualification.
  • Experience working within academic publishing, scholarly communication, or a related scientific/technical field.
  • Experience working with cross-functional or cross-location teams.

Salary Range: 38,600 GBP to 55,267 GBP
