About the Role:
The Senior Project Manager sits within the Delivery & Change Excellence function, responsible for delivering complex, cross-functional projects that directly support Wiley's strategic agenda. DCE exists to make sure Wiley's ambitions actually land — this role is central to that.
You'll lead delivery across high-priority initiatives, working across Technology, Product, and Commercial functions with senior stakeholder visibility. You'll operate with speed and accountability, bring structure to ambiguity, and actively embrace AI-enabled ways of working as part of how DCE operates day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional projects — clear business cases, realistic plans, benefits validated, changes embedded
- Develop and maintain project documentation including PIDs, business cases, plans, and RAID logs; manage scope, timelines, budgets, and dependencies
- Surface and escalate risks early; own issue resolution and mitigation
- Engage and manage stakeholders at senior levels, providing clear, timely reporting and executive communications
- Contribute to portfolio-level visibility — ensuring the right information reaches decision-makers at the right time
- Actively adopt AI-enabled tools and workflows within delivery (including Matae and others in the DCE stack)
- Work with extended teams to design and implement process improvements and automation
- Coach and develop junior project managers and contribute to DCE's capability standards
- Lead post-delivery reviews and feed learning back into continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent certification
- Extensive experience of progressive project management experience, including delivery of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to manage senior stakeholders and navigate a complex matrixed organisation
- Strong experience managing scope, risk, budget, and dependencies across concurrent workstreams
- Track record of delivering measurable outcomes — able to evidence impact, not just activity
- Experience leading teams through organisational change or transformation
- Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in publishing, media, technology, or information services
- Familiarity with AI-enabled delivery tools or a demonstrable interest in embedding AI into ways of working
- Experience contributing to PMO standards, governance frameworks, or capability development
- Familiarity with Clarity PPM or enterprise portfolio management tools
- Experience delivering projects involving external partnerships or vendor collaboration
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification
