About the Role: The Deputy Editor will support the Editor-in-Chief in managing submissions, ensuring rigorous peer review, and shaping the journal’s strategic direction. This role is ideal for a recognised researcher with editorial experience and a passion for advancing intelligent systems.
About the Journal: Advanced Intelligent Systems publishes cutting-edge research in robotics, AI, neuromorphic engineering, smart sensors, control systems, and human–machine interaction. The journal emphasizes interdisciplinary innovation, reproducibility, and responsible technology development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee manuscript review and decision-making in assigned domains.
- Recruit and engage expert reviewers; uphold reproducibility and ethical standards.
- Advise on special issues and emerging research areas.
- Collaborate with the editorial team to maintain quality and timeliness.
Educational Requirements:
- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in one of:
- Robotics / Automation
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
- Control Systems / Embedded Systems
- Neuromorphic Engineering / Smart Materials
- Human–Machine / Brain–Computer Interfaces
Experience & Qualifications:
- Strong publication record in top-tier venues (e.g., IEEE, NeurIPS, ICRA).
- Prior editorial or program committee experience.
- Expertise in at least two core areas (AI, robotics, sensors, control, neuromorphic systems).
- Commitment to open science, reproducibility, and ethical research practices.
Competencies:
- Technical depth and interdisciplinary insight.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to mentor authors and maintain high editorial standards.

The range below represents Wiley’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the United Kingdom, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
