Wiley is looking for a proactive, high-energy VAT compliance manager based in the South East (UK). Wiley’s business activities require VAT filings in many jurisdictions globally. The candidate will be responsible for VAT compliance and controls across the EMEA region as well as providing support to tax colleagues outside of EMEA as required. This role will also encompass demand-led work including working on a range of projects to support tax risk management such as design and implementation of VAT controls, identification and mitigation of VAT risk, management of quality control, and identification and implementation of process improvements. The role will also require an understanding of financial systems and technical accounting awareness. The VAT compliance manager reports to the Indirect Tax Director.
How you will make an impact:
- Preparation, analysis, and submission of UK VAT returns.
- Review of Wiley group VAT returns prepared by the offshore compliance team, working with external advisors where applicable to ensure accurate and timely submission of all returns and payments.
- Assistance with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions and working with the offshore team to manage future VAT compliance in those jurisdictions.
- Management of internal indirect tax compliance processes and controls to provide continuous support and improvement where necessary.
- Preparing and reviewing data analytics and trends analysis with VAT return information.
- Oversight and support of wider global VAT compliance activities undertaken, including monitoring of global risk profile for Wiley.
- Preparation and review of month-end VAT.
