Wilds Lodge School is an independent specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls accepted only as day learners). It serves learners aged 5‑19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school places equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of its learners, supported by a highly experienced and capable staff.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will support teachers in the delivery of lessons, produce and present learning material, and assist with administrative tasks such as marking. You will help maintain a high level of learner engagement through collaborative preparation and delivery of an innovative, creative and flexible curriculum. You will employ a collaborative and multi‑agency holistic approach to delivering therapeutic education, including health and safety awareness, risk management and safeguarding of young people. The HLTA will lead by example, providing professionalism at all times and ensuring a high level of commitment, good child‑care practice and safeguarding.
Qualifications and experience:
- GCSE grade 4 (or equivalent) in both Maths and English.
- HLTA qualification (or willingness to complete).
- Broad knowledge of strategies for teaching learners with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Valid driving licence.
- Commitment to learning and an understanding of the unique needs of learners with SEMH and ASD.
