An exciting job opportunity has arisen to join the team at our London Wetland Centre as a Retail Assistant. We are looking for a versatile individual to become an integral part of an inspirational and vibrant trading environment that consistently provides an excellent visitor experience.
You will be responsible for:
- Giving a warm welcome to every visitor in the visitor centre, admissions area, shop and café, demonstrating exceptional standards of customer service.
- Supporting our visitors at admissions with entry, membership and a warm welcome to our wetlands.
- Serving visitors at the till purchasing goods from the shop.
- Consistently and proactively promote and maximise sales opportunities, identifying and responding to visitor needs and provide tailored visitor experience recommendations, proactively upselling and linking products across all departments.
- Handling and storing stock effectively minimising wastage and deploying WWT stock control measures including receiving deliveries and participating in stock takes as required.
- Using the electronic point of sales system (EPOS) and WWT procedures to maximise sales and generate reliable sales information including carrying out opening, closing and cashing up procedures.
- Promoting the Gift Aid scheme to achieve Gift Aid targets, ensuring the full and accurate completion of appropriate records.
This is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week, 3 days from 7, including weekend and bank holiday working.
To join us as a Retail Assistant, you will have a friendly personality and a commitment to providing an exceptional visitor experience. The role requires a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience of working in retail is preferred but not required – successful candidates with no experience will be given full training to complete their duties to the highest standard.
