We are looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team and help maintain and improve the outdoor spaces at our homes across the Northeast.
What You'll Do
- Carry out grounds maintenance tasks including lawn care, hedge trimming, strimming, weed control, and leaf clearance.
- Complete general grounds improvements such as fencing, repairing paving, and remodelling spaces.
- Undertake preventative winter maintenance (e.g., clearing gutters, gullies, and drainage systems).
- Assist with basic building maintenance when severe weather prevents external work.
- Manage your own schedule of works, prioritising safety and quality.
- Operate a variety of plant, machinery, and tools safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with the Estates team and contractors to ensure high standards.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience in grounds maintenance.
- Skilled in using grounds maintenance equipment (ride-on mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, etc.).
- Practical experience in fencing, paving repairs, and general outdoor improvements.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Northeast.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive approach, and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Experience in child-focused environments (schools or care settings) is desirable.
