We require the services of a 3D Civils Designer to support an in-house Highways design team in Manchester.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in the preparation of detailed designs using Autodesk Civil 3D for all projects being developed by the Highway Design and Construction Teams.
- Provide technical guidance, support and encouragement to develop the engineering teams experience in the use of Autocad Civil 3D-related tasks.
- Generate construction documentation, including plans, sections, setting out, and detailed drawings, using Autocad Civil 3D ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards and codes.
- Input to and manage the Highways & Transportation – Quality Management System to produce Feasibility / Detailed Design / For Pricing and Construction drawings to achieve consistency of approach in the build-up of plans and working towards BIM.
- Develop and deliver design of a range of major and complex highways and transportation schemes of various types and sizes including feasibility design, detailed design, construction and maintenance.
- Identify and design out hazards, complete risk assessments, compile pre-construction information and ensure all design and construction works are planned, coordinated and completed in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Prepare tender and contract documentation and evaluate tender returns and award the contract.
- Administer the contract, supervise contractors, verify valuations, and certify payments for completed works.
- Supervise and check work of junior staff in terms of assisting in project delivery.
- Supervise and check work of statutory undertakers, developers, and contractors in terms of construction delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum HNC in Civil Engineering.
- Experienced and proficient in the use of Autodesk Civil 3D for the design and development of highway projects.
- Experience in developing detailed highway design models, including road alignments, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and performing horizontal / vertical alignment analysis.
