Location: Liskeard Head Office / Hybrid
Role Purpose: To create PowerBI reports based on accurate data sources, get them into the business and help support insights to support and challenge the business.
Main Responsibilities: This dedicated role is focused on delivering high-quality Power BI reporting, underpinned by clear documentation and structured enablement for the wider business. Ensure that stakeholders understand how to consume and interpret reports effectively, increasing adoption and value from data investments. The second part of the role will be to support the insights team by developing new data pipelines ETLs and API integrations. This may include the architecture and development of new technologies that can be consumed by the business.
Key Activities: While duties and responsibilities will vary, they typically include:
- Translate business requirements into well-designed, scalable Power BI reports and dashboards aligned to agreed KPIs and data definitions.
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather, clarify, and document reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with the wider technology team (Insights, DevOps, finance, network, operations) to source, validate, and expose reliable data.
- Develop and maintain robust data models (star schema where appropriate), optimised for performance and usability.
- Write and optimise DAX measures, calculated columns, and queries to ensure accurate and efficient reporting outputs.
- Ensure reports are built against trusted data sources and aligned with the agreed system of record.
- Validate data accuracy through reconciliation with source systems (e.g., finance, CRM, operational systems).
- Implement role-based access controls and data governance standards within Power BI environments.
- Produce clear documentation covering report logic, calculations, data lineage, and usage guidance.
- Provide structured enablement to stakeholders, including walkthroughs, training sessions, and written guidance on report interpretation.
- Monitor report performance, usage metrics, and adoption, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain version control and change management processes for reporting assets.
- Support continuous improvement of reporting standards, visual design consistency, and best practice adoption.
- Assist in defining and refining core business metrics to ensure consistency across reporting outputs.
- Contribute to data quality improvement initiatives by highlighting gaps, inconsistencies, or process weaknesses uncovered through reporting analysis.
- Support ad-hoc analytical requests while prioritising repeatable, scalable reporting solutions.
Essential Person Specification:
Knowledge: PowerBI, Dataverse (CRM, BC etc), all Microsoft suite.
Skills/Attributes:
- Ability to focus on detail with a strong eye for detail.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with effective communication techniques.
- Strong critical thinking and analysis.
- Time management.
Experience: 2 + years’ experience in PowerBI report creation.
Qualifications: General qualifications to include Maths, English and Computing. PL-300 (desirable).
Circumstances: Liskeard office with a hybrid model of a minimum of 3 days in the office (discretionary with manager).
