Join Our Adventure at Wild Roots Childcare!
At Wild Roots Childcare, we believe in the transformative power of learning through nature and play. Inspired by Forest School principles and the Froebel approach, we create rich, hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
We understand that the first two years of life are incredibly important. Our aim is to provide a warm, nurturing, home-from-home environment where babies feel safe, secure, and loved. Through responsive care, secure attachments, sensory exploration, and outdoor experiences, we support every child to develop at their own pace.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and enthusiastic Room Leader for our Under 2s room, who understands the importance of nurturing relationships and high-quality care during these crucial early years. You will lead the day-to-day running of the room, supporting your team to provide a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where babies and young toddlers can thrive. You will be passionate about early development, confident in leading others, and excited about creating meaningful learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.
If you love working with babies and believe that learning begins from birth, we would love to hear from you.
You will be:
- A confident and experienced Early Years professional with a genuine passion for working with children aged 0β2 years.
- A nurturing and responsive caregiver who understands secure attachments, emotional wellbeing, and the importance of meeting each child's individual needs.
- A strong leader who can motivate and support a team, manage the day-to-day running of the room, and maintain high standards of care, education, and safeguarding.
- Knowledgeable about the EYFS framework and how babies learn through sensory exploration, movement, communication, relationships, and play.
- Confident in supporting individual care routines, including feeding, weaning, sleep, nappy changing, and emerging independence.
- Creative and enthusiastic about planning age-appropriate activities, from sensory and messy play to outdoor exploration and natural experiences.
- Organised, proactive, and calm under pressure, with excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families and colleagues.
- Committed to observing children's development, identifying next steps, and creating opportunities that support each child's individual journey.
Above all, you will understand that caring for babies is about more than meeting their physical needs. It's about building trusting relationships, responding to their cues, celebrating milestones, and giving them the confidence to explore the world around them.
What we're looking for:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare, or an equivalent recognised qualification, in line with applicable requirements.
- Experience working with babies and children under two, with a strong understanding of their developmental, emotional, and physical needs.
- Previous leadership experience, or the confidence and ability to step into a Room Leader role.
- A good understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding, safe sleep, infant feeding, and relevant health and safety practices.
- Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- A warm, patient, and positive approach, with a genuine love for Early Years and outdoor learning.
What we offer:
- Competitive, negotiable pay depending on qualifications and experience.
- Opportunities for career progression and professional development.
- Lunch provided daily, including a paid lunch break.
- Free onsite parking.
- A pension scheme.
- The opportunity to work in a unique, nature-based setting with a supportive team.
- The chance to shape and develop our Under 2s room and create wonderful early experiences for our youngest children.
