Are you an experienced Purchasing and Logistics professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact? We're recruiting on behalf of a successful and growing business for a Purchasing & Transport Manager to join their team on a fixed-term basis. This is a 9 month contract to start immediately.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you'll take ownership of purchasing activities, supplier relationships, stock management, and transport operations, ensuring the smooth and cost-effective running of key business functions.

The Role

This is a varied and hands-on position that combines procurement, inventory control, and transport management. You'll be responsible for maintaining an efficient supply chain, delivering cost savings, and ensuring operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all purchasing and procurement activities, from sourcing suppliers through to ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating favourable terms and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring materials and products are available to meet business requirements.
  • Oversee transport operations, including vehicle scheduling, route planning, and day-to-day logistics coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all relevant transport regulations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing & Transport Assistant.
  • Produce regular reports on purchasing activity, stock levels, supplier performance, and transport operations.
  • Work closely with internal teams to support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, logistics, or transport management role.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
