A well‑established manufacturing business is recruiting for a Materials Planner, with a key focus on buying. They are a key provider for safety‑critical products to the global marine industry. Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of purchasing raw materials, components and consumables in line with demand, production plans and inventory targets.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, reliable service and consistent availability.
  • Source alternative suppliers and materials in response to shortages, quality concerns or cost pressures.
  • Raise purchase orders, monitor open orders and proactively expedite to protect production schedules.
  • Review supplier performance and elevate risks that may impact cost, quality or delivery.
  • Schedule materials and manage replenishment through ERP/MRP systems.
  • Coordinate manufacturing plans and release route cards on time.
  • Oversee stock control, investigate discrepancies and maintain accurate, real‑time inventory records.
  • Support new product introductions by identifying material requirements, sourcing new parts and managing run‑in/run‑out of existing stock.
  • Communicate material availability, risks and production updates to Sales, Planning and wider internal teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience in buying, production control or wider supply chain coordination.
  • Confident user of ERP/MRP systems with a focus on maintaining clean, accurate data.
  • A proactive communicator with strong negotiation skills and excellent attention to detail.
