About The Production
Wild Child Animation is looking to expand our 2D Animation team ahead of a new production, Captain Onion’s Buoyant Academy for Wayward Youth, an upcoming co-production with ALT Animation Ltd and Studio Meala. We have multiple roles available, including some Junior positions.
The series is a 50 x 11 minute energetic comedy-driven animated adventure show for anyone who’s ever felt like a fish out of water. Aimed at an audience of 7-12 year olds, the heart of the show is about finding the friends that define this time of your life.
Created by Matthew Bradley, the series was co-developed with BBC Children’s & Education as part of the BBC Ignite animation programme and will be co-directed by ALT Animation’s Matthew Bradley and Lee McQuade. The production has also received an International Co-production award from the UK Global Screen Fund.
What We Are Looking For
- Ideally 2+ years\’ industry 2D animation experience. Junior roles may have less than 2 years\’ experience.
- Confident knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony
- Experience in 2D FX is not essential but would be a bonus
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the animation pipeline
- Must be based and have the right to work within the UK. For this production, priority will be given to artists based in Scotland and Regional UK (defined as outside the M25)
Roles Available
- Roles are offered as freelance contracts. Freelancers are responsible for their own taxes and do not qualify for sick leave or paid holiday.
- We have a number of roles available, including Lead, Senior, Mid and Junior.
- Start dates for roles are staggered and expected to commence from late November 2025 to January 2026.
- Contract lengths will be 1 year at a minimum.
- Roles can be remote, hybrid or in-person at our studio in Stirling depending on location.
- Our standard studio hours are 7 working hours a day (usually 10am to 6pm), Monday to Friday. We are open to discussing flexible working hours on an individual basis where this is possible in the production pipeline.
