Purpose of job To provide person centred meaningful activity and stimulation for all residents. To maintain and update social media.

Main responsibilities

  • To produce and maintain a varied activities schedule
  • To promote special events and themed days
  • To contribute to new ideas for fundraising, newsletters, social media and social activity
  • To be aware of the needs and abilities of each individual
  • To promote independence and safety at all times
  • To risk assess each activity in consultation with the Manager
  • To assist with organising outings for the residents
  • To encourage participation in the activity sessions
  • To record resident participation in each activity
  • To contribute to regular Facebook posts on the company Facebook page
  • To assist when required at mealtimes and with drinks
  • To record any Safeguarding concerns immediately to the Lead Person on duty
  • To organise and host monthly meetings with residents and provide meeting minutes

Roles and Duties

  • To ensure residents are aware of the times of the activity sessions
  • Plan a varied weekly activity schedule and display daily
  • To ensure residents are supported to enable them to join in the activity sessions
  • To refresh cold drinks during the activity sessions and record amount consumed
  • To report to the manager or senior on duty if a resident appears unwell
  • Highlight calendar events within the home, for example Easter and plan themed activity days
  • Source ideas for new activities and equipment for the residents
  • Suggest ideas for fundraising for resident outings and equipment
  • To ensure that residents' birthdays are remembered and celebrated
  • To attend mandatory training and staff meetings
  • To complete a full induction programme
  • To assist with the planning of resident outings including arranging transport
  • To promote community engagement
  • To fully record each resident’s participation in each activity or record the reason if they did not wish to take part
  • Assist residents with letter writing, phone calls
  • Provide 1-1 sessions for residents as time permits

Qualifications No formal qualifications are necessary but experience in providing activities for older persons preferred. In-house training and online training will be provided.
