Your activities include leading the development of optical sensing systems (interferometry, fibre optics) and supporting existing sensor transducer design, working on new designs and prototyping (including sensing element, fibre, lens, etc.). You will simulate sensing systems, components, and data analysis, as well as hands-on set-up and carry out prototype tests, including data analysis and interpretation of the test results. Responsibilities also include the design and implementation of interrogation schemes, including processing algorithm definition and evaluation, and supporting the planning and execution of R&D projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for design documentation, external report production, and patent portfolio support (applications, maintenance).

Your profile should demonstrate a solid understanding of physics (optics) and fibre optics, as well as an understanding of optical devices (lasers, PDs, etc.) and measurement equipment (OSA, etc.). You should have experience in signal processing and algorithms, regression analysis, and statistical data analysis and performance data analysis (error evaluation, uncertainties, etc.). Practical experience in a development laboratory environment using optical interferometry, optical sensors, fibre optics, and optoelectronics to measure physical parameters is essential.

Proficiency in NI LabVIEW code to control test equipment and acquire data, perform data analysis, and experience in Python (or similar) programming languages for test control and data analysis are required. Some optics modelling experience and the ability to specify modelling parameters are also necessary. You should be capable of setting up experiments and understanding inputs, outputs, and dependencies. A MSc or PhD degree level in a relevant engineering or physics subject, along with some years of experience in a relevant field or industry, is preferred.

Desirable qualifications include a strong understanding of optoelectronics and interfaces, as well as familiarity with simulation tools (Python and relevant libraries, Matlab, Zemax, etc.).
