Responsibilities
- Carry out calibration, testing, and verification of electrical and electronic measuring equipment (including but not limited to voltage, current, resistance, power, and related parameters) in accordance with approved procedures and BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, both within the permanent laboratory and at customer sites where required.
- Accurately record and maintain calibration data, test results, certificates, and associated documentation in line with the laboratory quality management system.
- Ensure all calibration activities comply with customer, company, and regulatory Health & Safety, quality, and technical standards.
- Work under the guidance of senior laboratory personnel to support the development, validation, and continual improvement of electrical calibration procedures, methods, and associated measurement uncertainty budgets.
- Assist, where appropriate, in the training, supervision, and competency assessment of apprentice and junior technicians in accordance with UKAS and internal competency requirements.
- Identify, report, and assist in the investigation and resolution of equipment faults, non-conformances, and deviations from approved procedures.
- Maintain laboratory and portable calibration equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition, ensuring traceability to national or international standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding calibration activities, technical findings, and any issues arising.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role as required.
Your profile
- Engineering background (completed an Engineering Apprenticeship Level 4).
- Educated to HNC Level and have a full, UK driving license.
- Have a working knowledge of BS EN ISO 17025.
- Have an understanding of electrical principles.
- Ideally experienced in electrical calibration processes.
- Good level of IT literacy, to carry out the report writing using software packages.
- An understanding of UKAS, the role of UKAS, their procedures and high standards of quality.
- Previous experience within a calibration laboratory desired, but not essential.
