The Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Department of Lands and Natural Resources (DLNR) is seeking applications from qualified individuals to apply for the position of Land Use Coordinator. Under the direction of the Director of Lands & Natural Resources, the Land Use Coordinator is responsible for working with the Land Stewardship Plan Consultant in updating the Land Use Plan for Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. Responsibilities within this position are flexible and may be adjusted according to experience and community needs and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the coordination of activities related to community engagement, data collection and updating the Land Use Plan;
  • Liaise with the Land Use Plan Consultant on all activities pertaining to updating the Land Use Plan;
  • Participate in training opportunities as required to understand what Land Use Planning is;
  • Administer any projects essential for the implementation of land use planning and/or development of resource management plans and policies;
  • Carry out field data surveys using a Global Positioning System and Data Tablet, as required;
  • Assists other DLNR programs as requested;

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must meet Wii ni n’guch-tood L.M.S. Individual Eligibility Requirements;
  • Client must pre-register with the W.L.M.S. by completing a Client Consent to Data Disclosure Form, a Request for Client Support Form and providing an up to date resume;
  • Grade 12 Diploma, Post secondary diploma or degree in Geography, Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • Willingness to become familiar and/or functional understanding of GIS software and Microsoft Office applications, Global Positioning System, Data Collection Tablet;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations if required;
  • Ability to speak Anishnaabemowin or a willingness to learn;
  • Current Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

Salary: $59,916.00
