Wikwemikong Unceded Territory is seeking a motivated post‑secondary student for a Human Resource Assistant position within the Wikwemikong Administration Department. This summer student opportunity provides hands‑on experience in human resources administration, recruitment support, records management, and employee services, while working in a culturally grounded environment that reflects Wikwemikong’s values and traditions.

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day human resources administrative functions
  • Assist with recruitment and staffing activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, reference checks, and onboarding documentation
  • Maintain and organize confidential employee personnel files in accordance with WUT policies
  • Assist with data entry and maintenance of HR records, including leave tracking and employment documents
  • Respond to basic employee inquiries and provide administrative support to HR staff
  • Prepare HR correspondence, forms, and reports as required
  • Provide support for training sessions, orientations, meetings, and HR initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
  • Work respectfully within a culturally grounded environment that reflects Wikwemikong Unceded Territory protocols and values

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized post‑secondary program (Human Resources, Business Administration, Office Administration, Indigenous Studies, or related field)
  • Returning to full‑time studies in the next academic year
  • Interest in human resources, Indigenous governance, and community‑based organizations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced office environment
  • Respect for Anishinaabe culture, traditions, and community protocols
