Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking qualified individuals to fill the position of Associate Director of Child and Family Services. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principles and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishnaabe values and practices. The Associate Director will report directly to the Director of Child and Family Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support implementation of the WUT CFS Strategic Plan, annual service plans, and new program initiatives.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial monitoring, procurement, and administrative compliance.
  • Provide supervision to assigned Supervisors and Administrative Staff; conduct performance evaluations.
  • Oversee service flow, program performance, and adherence to policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Support culturally grounded, trauma-informed, prevention-focused service delivery.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations; ensure data accuracy and reporting compliance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with community partners, external agencies, and government representatives.
  • Participate in case reviews, integrated service meetings, and community planning tables.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, staff development, and a culturally safe work environment.
  • Ensure timely documentation, incident reporting, and risk management processes.
  • Support reporting to the CEO, Director of Child and Family Services, and Chief and Council.
  • Represent WUT CFS at community and regional meetings when delegated.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in social work preferred (equivalencies considered).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Social Services within a First Nation community.
  • Minimum 3 years’ supervisory or management experience.
  • The successful candidate must have 7 – 10 years of child welfare experience.
  • Experience working with at-risk children, youth, and families; child welfare experience an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Ojibway culture, WUT customs, and community dynamics.
  • Knowledge of CYFSA, Indigenous Services Canada funding frameworks, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to emergencies, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and electronic case management systems.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, “G” driver’s license, insured vehicle, and clear CPIC/VSS.

Salary: $121,743, Grade 11, Step 1
