The role will provide targeted teaching and intervention to enable students to become confident, successful readers.This is a specialist teaching role focused on improving reading and literacy, rather than a traditional subject classroom teaching post. The successful candidate will work predominantly with individuals and small groups of students requiring targeted reading support. We welcome applications from teachers from all phases and subject backgrounds.**What We Are Looking For**We are looking for an effective and compassionate teacher who combines successful experience of teaching children to read with the skill and commitment needed to support secondary-aged students requiring targeted reading support.• Deliver evidence-informed reading interventions, including established approaches such as synthetic phonics, reading fluency and other structured literacy programmes.• Use existing, proven programmes and strategies expertly and consistently, adapting their delivery so that interventions are engaging and age-appropriate for secondary-aged students.• Plan and deliver structured reading programmes for individuals and small groups, responding to students’ starting points and identified literacy needs.• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the barriers experienced by students with low literacy levels and the ability to build warm, positive relationships with students who may lack confidence in reading.• Apply previous successful experience of teaching children to read.• Apply experience of delivering reading or literacy interventions, with the confidence and expertise to support students who require significant additional help with reading.**Why Wigston Academies Trust?**Wigston Academies Trust is formed of two schools serving one community: Wigston Academy (11-16) and Wigston College (16-18).
