About the role

This is a maternity cover role within a recently expanded Cashiering and Disbursements team to enhance the team’s ability to support the wider business needs and drive improvement and efficiency. You will be responsible for providing an excellent legal cashiering service, including regular international transactions that are fully compliant with the Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules (SAR).

  • Processing office and client account transactions in accordance with SAR and firm policies.
  • Responsibility for IPO account transactions and all related tasks.
  • Processing counsel fee and expert invoices including reconciliation of the vendor accounts.
  • Supporting transactional banking queries from disbursement suppliers, banks, international intermediaries, internal "clients" (RM’s, wider finance, legal teams, BM teams) and external clients.
  • Advising on all client‑related banking queries, including international payments, and liaising with our bank contact as appropriate.
  • Reviewing and first releasing all client payments.
  • Supporting the SRA audit information requirements.
  • Strictly following process documentation for key tasks within the role, including deadlines and timescales, and working proactively to improve these, supporting direction received from the Financial Controller/Deputy COFA.
  • Assisting with month‑end reporting and duties.
  • Ad‑hoc requests required by the Senior Legal Cashier.

This list is not exhaustive; other duties and projects may be assigned to you commensurate with the general nature of the role.

About you

You will have good legal cashiering experience and be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of legal cashiering processes and procedures, including handling international payments across a range of countries. You will also demonstrate strong skills in attention to detail, accuracy and prioritisation, working under pressure with tight deadlines, and maintaining an up‑to‑date knowledge of the SAR. You will be resourceful, adept at problem‑solving, forward‑thinking, and always supporting the department to provide an excellent service to the firm and our clients.

Availability

You will be available to commence work by 1 February (ideally much sooner – we would be happy for you to start from January onwards). As a maternity cover role, our expectation is that the contract will extend until around May 2027. Our usual expectation is for 50% office attendance for this fixed‑term contract.
